Novice Local League Wins GRMHL A Playoff Championship
Submitted By Dan Phillips on Wednesday, April 5, 2017
The St George Novice Local League teamed capped off a tremendous season by winning the Grand River Novice Local League A Division Championship series in a convincing manner. They finished the regular season undefeated in second place with an amazing 14-0-2 record.

After completing the 10-game round robin playoff they found themselves tied with Tavistock for second place in their division. Hosting the do or die tie breaker on Wednesday March 22 St George found themselves trailing 1-0 as the game was winding down.  They tied it up with 56 seconds left in the 3rd period and roared back to net the winner with only 31 seconds left on the clock. The dramatic win put them in the finals against Beverly.

In the final series St George came out determined to show they were the better team. They got off to a great start in the first game in Beverly jumping out to a quick lead then carrying on to a solid 6-4 victory. Game 2 was the following day Sat March 25 and the Novice Generals showed up determined to win. They jumped out to another early lead and won convincingly 6-1.

The win capped off a great overall season. In addition to winning the league playoff championship they won tournaments in Langton , Huntsville and St George .
